I know

My child is a parrot.

There is a rumor circulating that I was also a parrot at this age (and at 15).

I'm going to blame anyone else...but, really what am I going to do?

Clare has started "smarting off" to me, using the same lines I use on her daily.

Today, I finally realized that she is not saying "Hi-Yo". We thought this was a Jersey "Hell-O".
She says and waves "Hi" so it was a stretch.

She is actually saying, "I know"

As in, you are an e'ffin idoit, I know these things.

Examples are:

Me: You are going to fall off the table.
Clare: I know.

Me: That crayon does not go in your mouth.
Clare: I know.

Me: I am going to beat you if you don't get off the bookshelf.
Clare: I know.

Me: If you scratch my table with your fork again, you will use spoons until you are 30.
Clare: I know.

Me: This is a Happy Mommy Drink, you can't have a sip.
Clare: I know.

Clare also has an especially good punk: She walks up and says, "What is this/that" or "Where did it go?:

So, I answer her (i.e. that's a block, it went to bed (nite-nite), it's a knife, it's a bomb, etc.).

Her response?

"I know"

P.S. So, I ask her "If you know everything, why are you asking me?". Maybe this is bad parenting....

Thoughts?

Grandmama & Grandpa PART 3

Grandmama saving Clare from the cold water

Hot Daddy and Clare
Grandpa, Grandmama and Clare

I love her face in this picture, you totally tell she landed hard!
Hanging out by the fire
Pool fun

Getting dried off out of the pool
Seafood fest

Grandmama&Grandpa PART 2

Philly Zoo:)
The first animals of the day were the ducks, who were super friendly
Reptile house was the first exhibit of the day. All day, Clare called everything a "SSSSNNNake". Note Grandmama did not join us on the tour, she waited outside, since she hates reptiles of any kind.
Looking back to make sure we didn't leave her.
Grandmama and Clare
Grandpa and Clare sizing up the rabbits

LOVE their faces. I love that both Clare and Grandpa are clearly "judging" someone. The both must have seen something or someone they didn't like.
Tigers and Lions

Grandmama is always up for this stuff. Clare is finally "getting" these things.
Check out the goat (not the goat/sheep from last time)

Making sure Grandmama and Mom are following the tour
Mommy and Clare with the Ginger-rafes.

We had a great time at the Zoo. Clare also likes to "call" the animals over, but calls them all my Sister's Dog's name, Chief. So she whistles and says "Tief" over and over again. What's funny is she has her own dog and must prefer Chubbs McLovin (aka Chief) who is a fat sausage more her size (vs. the Hairy SnowBeast that is Serena).

Grandmama/Grandpa PART 1

Grandmama giving Clare her Potty Time doll. Clare loved the doll, loved the bottle it came with and even like to put the baby on the potty. None of this translated into Clare actually using a potty herself. Good try though!

Grandpa playing with Clare with his eyes closed from driving 12 hours.

At the park
I love Clare's face. She looks like she's going really fast, but really it's just that my Dad actually pushes her on the swing, instead of my half-assed pushing with one hand while texting with my other hand. She seemed to like the swings way more with my parents than she does with me.
Clare made several friends on the Big Kid Playground. They all marched in a line behind her as she climbed up to really high and made them copy her. She is going to be a leader. Which, I of course, LOVE. As long as she realizes I lead the show at this house.
She figured out how to swing (and not fall) and she taught the little girl next to her.
One of the bigger people she convinced to play Follow the Leader.

At the coffee shop waiting for her Smoothie.

Clare told me in the yard yesterday to "Let GO!" of a toy that I wasn't giving her (because she wouldn't say "please"). When I refused, she got an inch from my face and screamed "I SAID NO". I was dying of laughter. She is so bossy.

Before Grandma/Grandpa were in town

Proud of herself for the below accomplishment
Ending my only bit of sanity I had left by showing me how she can scale baby jail with ease. This picture is the reason we just spent $100 on more gates to now install in our house that is our newest effort in the war on Clare's climbing.
Water table fun
Riding her slide
She uses the water table like a pool. Despite the fact the pool is 4 feet from the water table.

Park

Ravoli and Clare with a spoon.

These are a few pics from the week before my parents were in town for a visit. I have lots more to publish this week with my parents and Clare, but I needed to get these up first. Clare is into everything (so no update there). She also has started bossing us around (she was likely already doing so, but now we can understand her better). She tells us to "Go" and "Move" and "Let GO" of her toys. She is quite a pistol.

More pics later this week! Hope everyone is enjoying summer!
